Why Minis?

A Miniature Hereford is a full-blood Hereford. They are simply a smaller, more compact version of the ordinary Herefords you see today.

At Rocklyn Stud, our purebred Miniature Herefords are dwarf-gene free and fully registered with the New Zealand Hereford Association.

Family Friendly: Their gentle disposition makes them incredibly easy and safe to handle, even for those new to cattle.
Highly Efficient: They eat 30–40% less than full-size cattle and possess superior feed conversion.
Easy on the Land: Because they are smaller and require less acreage, they are the perfect choice for small farms and lifestyle properties.
Hardy & Adaptable: They thrive in a variety of environments, adapting easily to different weather conditions and temperatures.
Real Beef Cattle: Despite their size, they are genuine beef cattle that mature more quickly than standard breeds.
Small Beginnings: Calves are remarkably easy to manage, weighing on average only 15kg to 25kg (30–50 lbs) at birth.
